Time to DETOX!
We all indulged over the holidays and probably had a few more sweet treats than usual. Join the 7220 community in our annual 30 Day Sugar Detox from January 11 - February 9th.
Although we believe in enjoying a treat now and then, sometimes we need to "reset" our system and cleanse our body of the sugar we've been overloading it with.
They say sugar could be even more addictive than cocaine. Weight-loss expert Dr Sally Norton warns the growing addiction to sugar is as dangerous as addictions to alcohol and tobacco, fueling obesity and increasing the risk of type 2 diabetes, heart disease and cancer.
And as with any potentially addictive substance, the more we consume, the more our reward receptors get numbed to it – so we look for even more to re-create that ‘high’.
So if you find yourself constantly craving sugary treats (even more than usual at this time of year), the less than sweet truth is it may be more than a bad habit you’ve picked up over the festive season.
Warning: the first 3 days are the toughest! Get past those and it will get easier and you will feel better!
This is not the Whole 30, we are just trying to cut out those sweets.
*NO SUGAR means no candy, desserts, or foods with added refined sugar or syrups. Natural sugars like fruit are fine, of course! Try to stay away from sugar substitutes like sucralose and aspartame as well. If you need a bit of sweetener choose a natural sub like stevia.
Drink a lot of water to help curb cravings (plain or sparkling). Add a lemon or lime and some mint for flavor.
Time to kick the habit! 30 days: NO SUGAR* We can do it together!
